A calm cleanup order

• Confirm every bank, credit-card, loan and processor account in scope.

• Gather monthly statements and POS reports for the missing period.

• Separate business activity from owner contributions and distributions.

• Reconcile accounts month by month instead of categorizing the entire year blindly.

• Review sales, payroll, liabilities, loans and unusual balances.

• Produce financial statements only after the underlying accounts are reconciled.

What cleanup gives you

Cleanup restores the Money Out record, but it also improves the other stages. POS reconciliation clarifies Money In. Correct liabilities and balances improve Allocations. Reliable reports make Review possible again.

What happens after cleanup matters

A one-time repair is useful, but the larger relief comes from a monthly rhythm that prevents the books from falling behind again. That is why I normally look at both the historical cleanup and the ongoing process the shop can realistically maintain.
